Do you ever wonder what to buy the mom who never knows what she wants? You know….the one who always says, “I don’t need anything”, when deep inside, you know that she never buys herself ANYTHING because she knows that she has to stretch her dollars, and she would rather spend it on the kids.
Do you know her? I bet my right arm that you do!
So…this Christmas, I have done the work for you! I have compiled a list of 10 of the best gifts for busy moms! This list includes ideas for every budget, from less than $100 to over $1000, depending on what you want to spend.
Of course, the best gifts in the whole wide world come from our babies and are handmade with love (and sticky fingers, boogers, etc), but if you do not fall into this category and need a great gift idea, here are a few good ones (or possibly my own Christmas list). Some of these things I already have, and some of them I would LOVE to get as a gift. Hint, hint 😉
1. THIS…I love this knife set from Pioneer Woman
I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love anything that Ree Drummond creates, but these knives are my favorite! I love the color of them! They are so fun, and really stand out in my kitchen! Not only are they beautiful, but they are very practical, especially if you are like me and have never had a set of matching knives. LOL!
Your floor gets vacuumed when you are not home! Do I really need to say anything else? Time and sanity saver.
This is probably my favorite idea of all! This can also fit into any budget.
Last Christmas, my husband bought a 3 hour horseback ride for my (then) 11 year old daughter and I to have a mother/daughter day-out. What made this most special is that he knew that we both needed some alone time with one another since life with 3 younger siblings can sometimes make one feel a little bit left out. So instead of buying me a fancy gift, he spent the money on this experience for us, and the fact that he even thought about this made it that much more special.
The funny thing was that I was completely unaware of what he had gotten me, but I had done the same for him. I purchased tickets for him and my son to go to Monster Jam for a little father son one-on-one which they both desperately needed living in a house full of girls.
Other ideas could be season tickets to her family’s favorite amusement park (something fun for them to do all year without worrying about money), a weekend trip with her girlfriends, a day at the spa, admission to a class that she’s been wanting to take (painting, dancing, yoga, zumba, etc.).
4. Remodel or redecorate a space…
OK…If you are a husband, boyfriend, etc., do not do this alone unless you know what she wants. This could end very badly for you!
I love, love, love to change things up in my house. I always have something in mind that I want to do, but either time or money (usually both) get in the way of us being able to do it. I would be completely overjoyed if someone did this for me as a gift.
The best way to make this happen, depending on the size of the project, of course, would be to find out what she wants done including ALL the details and make it happen for her. It could be the simplest of projects, but it would make her feel like you really care about what she wants and want to fix something that’s been bothering her.
5. Copper Chef Copper pan
I freaking love this pan! I use it everyday. Nothing sticks to it, and it is deep enough to hold large dishes for my large family. Super easy to clean and not expensive! I plan to get the entire set eventually.
Update: After about 6 months, food started to stick in the center of the pan. And I ONLY hand wash my pots and pans and NEVER use metal utensils. I still use it daily, but it’s not as fantastic as I originally thought.
6. A Day of Pampering
Let’s face it…. moms often neglect themselves in order to see that her kids have what they need. We often put ourselves and our needs WAY on the back burner (or not on any burner, for that matter). Even though it may not appear like it some days, we still love to look and feel beautiful. A new hairstyle, color, facial, manicure, pedicure, or even shopping for a new outfit can make a world of difference in how we feel about ourselves. If Mama is happy, the world is good 🙂
This thing has changed my life! I am a super busy mom with 4 very active children and a full-time job. There are many nights that we do not make it home until 7 or 8:00 (or later). This pressure cooker allows me to make home-cooked meals in a hurry which saves A TON of money and empty calories by skipping out on fast food. Pinterest makes it easy to find simple recipes that are super-quick and easy. My cooker takes about 10 minutes to pressurize and cooks almost anything in 15 minutes or less. I have an 8 quart model which suits my family of 6, but the smaller 6 quart model would probably be plenty for a smaller bunch. This is a MUST HAVE for all busy moms!
8. Plan a Special Date Night/Weekend trip (kid-free)
THIS….. We love being moms. Most women who have children will say that we feel it is our calling to raise good humans. But, hey, we are still women, and sometimes it’s hard to take off the mom hat and put on the romance hat when we are surrounded by minions and the daily duties of keeping house. TAKE US SOMEWHERE WITHOUT KIDS! It is a great time to unwind and reconnect with us and remember why we have all these kids in the first place 😉
I want one of these! It vacuums and mops at the same time! I’m not going to lie and say that I do it, but my kitchen floor which is engineered hardwood needs to be cleaned several times a day. This would make it so much simpler, and anything that makes my circus a little easier is a definite win!
10. Pay for someone to clean for a month (or 2 or 12)
How glorious it would be to get to come home to a clean house every now and then! It doesn’t have to be every day, but maybe once every couple of weeks or even monthly. Heck, I’d be happy if someone just did my laundry!
Every mom is different, and we all have things that make us smile.
Most importantly, we just want our families together at Christmas, healthy and happy. We can’t wait to get those little handprint snowmen and green felt Christmas tree ornaments from our babies! It really is the thought that counts for most of us, but anything that can make our hectic lives a little easier would definitely be welcome.
